Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, popularly referred to in the media as Ashanti was born on October 13, 1981 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer and songwriter. The talent of Ashanti was discovered in her teens. The singer signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. That same year, she also included on Fat Joe's What's Luv? Also, she was featured on Fat Joe's song"What's Luv!" and the Ja Rules track Always In Time, both of which were huge hits. First ever female to reach the second and third positions within the United States, with Foolish first and What's Luv? It was the first female artist to hold both of the highest two positions on the American Billboard Hot 100, with Foolish at number one and the other being What's Loving? The 16th of October Hey Baby (After the Club) was released to radio and digital outlets. She was in the film Christmas in the City and played Latasha Montclair in Army Wives.
